Chapître d'Automne - Alden & Harlow - Tuesday November 17th

Le Chapître d'automne

Alden & Harlow

Tuesday - November 17th

Cambridge is a hotbed a culinary exploration these days and our second foray of 2015 into the so-called “Peoples Republic” brought the Boston Baillage to Chef-Owner Michael Scelfo’s highly celebrated Alden & Harlow.

This Boston Globes 2014 restaurant of the year is wildly popular with and hot bar scene, long lines and hard to secure reservations but the wily officers of the Boston Bailliage secured space for 26 “Gastronaughts” in the aptly named Greenhouse area of the restaurant and we were off!

In creating his restaurant in the space formerly home to long loved Restaurant Casablanca, Chef Scelfo looked inward at his own personal culinary perspective finding inspiration from his home.

The medium for his creativity is farm to table food interwoven with elements of personal style and meaning - simple yet elegant dishes he would want to prepare and eat with his family.

While some of what we enjoyed were “classic” staples of his menu, including the exquisite Charred Broccoli and amazing Roasted Bone Marrow, the extensive and adventurous offerings he prepared were packed with seasonal specialties emphasizing top of the catch and super farm fresh elements.

The evening began with a bubbly reception and tasty nibbles featuring the Alden & Harlow burger (quartered) that has been named Boston’s Best. So good in fact one must arrive very, very early in a typical evening to get your hands on one!

Once seated for dinner proper we enjoyed a multitude of courses that pleased the carnivore and vegetarian alike and once the seemingly never ending cavalcade of delicious dishes was complete we trundled off into Harvard Square this fall evening, sated!
